We are halfway through our first novel The Kid Who Ran for President! I am so proud of the hard work I am seeing in each student. We have practiced identifying character traits, retelling the sequence of events in a story, and using context clues to determine the meaning of a word in our text. Each student has created a blog that will be used in class. The goal of the blog is to create an open dialogue between student, teacher, and classmate in a technology friendly forum. These blogs are only to be used for school related discussions. They are password protected and I have complete access to everything they post. I moderate the blogs as well as check their posts weekly. Please ask your student to show them your blog, I am very proud of the work they put into them so far! I am using the Weebly student platform, which is the same platform I use for this website as well.
I will continue to post homework on my website, so you can check here if your student forgot to write it down. In addition to the HW they write in their planner, it is understood that reading is required each night. The suggested amount of time is 20-30 minutes, and they choose what they want to read. Upcoming Dates To Remember: Fall Fundraiser going home on 8.29.16. Labor Day: No School on 9.5.16 Curriculum Night is on 9.15.16 from 5:30-6:30. Interim Reports are issued on 9.16.16 Student Holiday (no school) on 9.19.16
